BEFORE the Supreme Court today is a petition for certiorari and prohibition seeking to nullify the provisions of the Family Code which define marriage as the union between one man and one woman, and other portions of the Code which make lesbianism or homosexuality grounds for the annulment of marriage and legal separation of spouses. It is the first such petition for the legalization of same-sex marriage ever given due course by the court.
