Filipino gamers: An opportunity for local content developers

  
By the end of 2009, IDC estimates that the Philippines would produce 7.8 million online gamers and their numbers could give Filipino technopreneurs the opportunity to provide them local content that could also be marketed globally, according to the CEO of a local game publishing house that holds franchises here for several titles developed abroad.

IPVG Corp. CEO Enrique Gonzalez gave this observation as he spoke recently before attendees of the regular monthly meeting of the Ayala Foundation-sponsored Innovation Forum at the Asian Institute of Management Conference Center in Makati City. He said that if this opportunity could now be seized, there loomed the possibility of the Philippines earning hefty dollar revenues by way of royalty payments abroad for the use of local intellectual properties.
