14 landmarks by the Pasig you can’t touch

We didn’t know, until we came across this MMDA brochure, that there are 14 structures along the Pasig River that one could not transfer or tear down without breaking the law. The brochure, “Disiplina sa Ilog Pasig,” takes a dip in the river’s history and navigates a channel of laws and administrative rules on the protection of the historic waterway. Published by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chaired by Bayani Fernando, the pamphlet reminds us that the rehabilitation of Rizal’s favorite swimming spot is a project of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission. The MMDA is a member of the Laguna Lake Development Authority, which oversees the project.
