Superfriends, Pasagard booters prevail

SUPERFRIENDS stamped its class over Manila All-Japan, 4-0, on Sunday to boost its semifinal bid in the Puma UFL at the Nomads Field in Merville, Parañaque.

Raymond Juarez had two goals while Reyland Bautista and Ariel Zerruga scored one each as the Superfriends notched their fourth win in five outings to stay at second behind Loyola (5-0).

Pasagard also won its match against Alabang Grins FC, 3-1, to improve its win-loss record to 3-1 for third place.

Jovanie Simpron scored in the third and 40th minute while Errol Labra had one in the 35th minute. Alabang’s lone goal came from Arturo Enriquez in the 81st minute.

In the other game, Ross Calixterio, Alvin Ocampo and Ayi Aryee powered Union FC to a 6-1 victory over Mama Africa. It was the third win in seven outings for Union FC while the African nationals absorbed their third loss against one win.

The league is a fitting prelude to the upcoming European Championships where Puma is the sponsor of five national teams including world champion Italy, Czech Republic, Poland and hosts Austria and Switzerland.
