Marikina City Police Station’s (MCPS) “wish
ko lang” was granted as the force will receive on Monday 20 sets
of personal computers donated by the Manila Electric Company (Meralco).
“This will definitely boost the
administrative capability of the police station,” Marikina Police
Supt. Sotero Ramos said in an interview with The Manila Times.
“I was about to write and send a letter
to Vicky Morales, if not for the timely donation,” Ramos jokingly
added.
Ramos explained that the additional
equipment provided by Meralco strengthens the project of the
Philippine National Police (PNP) since MCPS has been piloted as the
Model Police Station since 2005.
However, Ramos claimed that the
“timely” donation by Meralco has nothing to do with the current
energy crisis that the company is facing.
“I have discussed the interconnectivity
problem of all the Marikina community precincts with their [Meralco]
officials a long time ago. Maybe the timing of the donation was a
little bit off, but I assured you that it has nothing to do with
what we read in the newspapers,” said Ramos.
“This project is only an extension of
what they have done before,” said Ramos.
