Guinness record holder Russ Swift will perform anew at the Manila
International Auto Show 2008 at the World Trade Center from April 3
to 6. Swift will use the new Subaru Impreza WRX STI for the Manila
performance of the Russ Swift Precision Stunt Driving Show.
At last year’s Manila auto show, Swift
thrilled the audience with his signature two-wheel stunt, donut
maneuver and tight parking moves behind the wheel of Imprezas.
Swift has the Guinness record for the fastest
donut spin maneuver and holds two more for the tightest J-turn and
quickest parallel parking—in two seconds flat. Swift can also spin
a car into a parking space that’s only 33 centimeters longer than
the one he’s driving.
Swift made his stunt-driving debut with the
famous Austin Montego commercial in 1988. His career started in
Autotesting, a type of motor sport where drivers follow a defined
route. As the British Autotest champion and England Autotest team
captain, he demonstrated his skills in public on several occasions.
He then realized that there was a demand for this type of driving
entertainment.
On BBC’s Top Gear, Swift in a TV appearance
even taught a few grandmothers how to do the donut maneuver.
Since then, Swift has established himself as
the world’s number one display driver with numerous TV commercials
and car launches to his credit. Russ has now performed in over 50
countries including those in Europe and America. He has also toured
in South Africa, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and
very recently, the Philippines.
“We’ve done the Melbourne and Singapore
Auto Shows, the German Grand Prix and the Bahrain Grand Prix,”
Swift added.
The Russ Swift Precision Stunt Driving Show is
supported by Philippine Subaru distributor Motor Image Pilipinas,
Bridgestone, ROTA Wheels, Motul and motioncars.com.
