BMW S 1000 RR to do battle in the 2009 Superbike
World
|
|
BMW Motorrad recently announced it will field an entry in the 2009
Superbike World Championship. The company’s foray into the highly
competitive race series will be hinged on its latest and arguably
most thrilling race bike: the new S 1000 RR.
BMW Motorrad revealed it had tirelessly tested
the S 1000 RR at the Eurospeedway Lausitzring. The latest test runs
gave its factory riders—Steve Martin, Kevin Curtain and Jeremy
McWilliams—a chance to compare their lap times and performance
with the previous year’s races. At the end of the tests, the team
was pleased with the bike’s progress and was eager to work on the
next stages of its development, BMW Motorrad said.
