Comets, Roadkings fight for bonus

DARKHORSE teams Mail and More and Toyota Balintawak clash for the 2008 PBL V-Go Extreme Energy Drink Cup quarterfinals incentive Tuesday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila.

The Comets and the Roadkings, sporting identical 4-4 cards, face each other at 2 p.m. with the winner earning a fourth seeding and more importantly, a twice-to beat advantage going into the quarterfinals.

“I’ve been reminding them that this is not a free ride, it [the win] won’t be served in a silver platter,” said Mail and More coach Allan Gregorio. “We expect a hard game against Toyota but as long as the players continue to make an effort in knowing what they can do for the team, everything will fall into place.”

The Comets and the Roadkings are also coming off hard-earned triumphs against separate rivals Bacchus Energy Drink Raiders (76-73) and Pharex Medics (78-71), making their encounter more exciting.

Pharex and Bacchus meet in the 12 noon opener while unbeaten Hapee Toothpaste tackle San Mig Coffee at 4 p.m.

The Coffee Kings earlier secured the twice-to-beat advantage after shrugging off the Raiders, 75-63, last November 22, and having a superior quotient over Mail and More and Toyota.
