BENJAMIN Wagland of Australia survived Hao-Yang Hu of Chinese
Taipei, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, Monday to reach the boys’ singles main draw
of the Phinma-ITF Juniors Circuit at the Rizal Memorial Tennis
Center.
Also advancing were Luca Maseillo of Italy, Iben
Zulkarnain of Indonesia and Artem Ilyushin of Russia.
Maseillo defeated local Carlos Espedido, 6-3,
6-1, Zulkarnain demolished Yoshihiro Sekine of Japan, 6-2, 6-0, and
Ilyushin clobbered local Marco Polo Suntay, 6-1, 6-0.
In the girls’ singles, Hayley Ericksen of
Australia outplayed Kaede Hayase of Japan, 6-3-6-3, to advance in
the main draw.
Other winners were Riko Fujioka of Japan over
Hsueh Chen Tang of Chinese Taipei, 6-4, 6-2, Kana Okada of Japan
over compatriot Yoko Nagai, 6-2, 6-3, and Varunya Wongteanchai of
Thailand over Pei-Chi Lee of Chinese Taipei, 6-2, 7-6 (2).
