Djokovic the Joker battles through on comeback
World number one Novak Djokovic won a hard fought three setter against veteran Xavier Malisse at the Swiss Indoors on Tuesday as he revealed he has recovered from what he termed the worst injury
of his career. Djokovic, playing for the first time in six weeks after a back injury in the Davis Cup semifinals left him in lying in agony on court in Serbia, finally overcame the in-form Belgian 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 to progress to the second round.

Tolentino said riders are keen on surpassing 2007 SEAG record
PHILCYCLING President and Tagaytay Mayor Abraham Tolentino said that the Philippine cycling contingent to the Southeast Asian Games this month is bent on surpassing their previous achievement in the meet, “The riders really want to prove something and that make them really tough. So far, I don’t like to make any prediction about how many medals we’re going to take home but I’m sure we have a strong chance there,” said Tolentino.

NBA woes scupper Jordan’s Presidents Cup job
Basketball legend Michael Jordan won’t travel to Australia as a captain’s assistant for the US Presidents Cup team because of the NBA’s ongoing labor dispute. Fred Couples, who will captain the US side in the match play showdown with an International team November 17-20 at Royal Melbourne, had enlisted Jordan to “motivate and inspire” the Americans as they bid to retain the trophy. But Jordan, the former Chicago Bulls great, is now the majority owner of the league’s Charlotte Bobcats and decided to withdraw to deal with the NBA lockout.
