LEADER in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software Autodesk Inc. announced in a press briefing its continued dedication to sustainable building in 2012. With this, the design firm intensifies its drive in aiding design practitioners in building sustainable infrastructures and ultimately a smarter city.
According to Autodesk Philippines Country Manager Teddy D. Tiu, “we see rapid urbanization in the country as commercial and residential buildings are being built. With this we need to make sure that what we build will contribute to the sustainability of the world we live in.”
Tiu added implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) via Autodesk’s design solutions in the planning process ó both structure-centric and even urban development ó can help achieve a greener and smarter city. “Sustainability is demonstrated throughout what our software enables our customers to do, from reducing reliance on physical prototypes; to enabling architects to make sustainable design decisions earlier in the process through BIM.”
BIM is an intelligent modelñbased process that provides insight for creating and managing building and infrastructure projects faster, more economically, and with less environmental impact.
Autodesk BIM solutions for the building industry are based on models created with Autodesk Revit software — including solutions for architecture; structural engineering; and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering.
Through Autodesk software, designers and engineers can create and analyze 3D models that minimize energy use and materials toxicity, and maximize performance of the buildings, infrastructure and products they design.
“This year, Autodesk will continue to help people imagine, design and create a better world. What our design processes enable, whether in manufacturing, building and construction, or media and entertainment, is sustainable design,” Tiu concluded.
