THE movie industry is bound to block a resolution in the House of Representatives to stop portraying a congressman as a villain in movies and of television series, Nick Lizaso, one of the founders of Film Academy of the Philippines on Wednesday said.
Lizaso, the former president of the directors guild said that they cannot go against the truth and since they are dealing with art, this is one way of expressing of what they think is the real picture of life.

“This is direct invasion of one’s rights. Every one has his right to voice what he thinks is right but they should learned to respect others rights,” Lizaso told mediamen at the weekly forum Fernandina Media Forum at Club Filipino in San Juan.

Instead, Lizaso said the resolution should focus to all and not to only lawmakers in the House of Representatives because all sectors of life have their own villains.

“What we want is good producers who fully respect brainstorming to come up with quality films who will not limit their resources,” Lizaso explained.

Veteran actor Rez Cortez shares the view of Lizaso and claimed that “we have proven our worth even in the international community that Filipino directors, scriptwriters, actors and actresses.

“We have battery of good directors and writers as well as actors and actresses which were already recognized by the international award giving body. We have won several international awards as we have been recognized as big competitor in the international industry,” Cortez pointed out.

He added that giving them the chance to show their worth by giving them the full support of the producers who are not after ratings but quality films for international release, the Philippines could be the best hub of best movies in the international market.

Lizaso, the founder of Kapisanan ng mga Direktor sa Pilipinas (KDP) said that he is thinking of enhancing actors / actresses, scriptwriters and other important players in making a full length movies and tv series should forget the ratings and concentrate on the quality of the product.

“Forget ABS-CBN and GMA (are both) bound to deliver ratings. This has ruined the industry for commercial purposes,” Lizaso insists.
