THE KOREAN Embassy is fuming over a notorious member of a Korean gangster charged with kidnapping and robbery extortion of fellow Koreans in the country who had pulled a fast one allegedly while in the custody of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).
Adding insult to injury, another Korean fugitive bailed out for the same offenses and took off back to Seoul, prompting the Korean Embassy to ask the PNP to release its report and seek for thorough investigation of the incident.
Reports said Kim Sung Yun, 39, made his getaway around 1:30 a.m. on December 27, 2011 in detention in SMMCIDT detention cell in Fort Bonifacio for violation of Presidential Decree 1866 as amended by RA 8294 or the Unlawful manufacture, sale, acquisition, disposition or possession of firearms or ammunition or instruments used or intended to be used in the manufacture of firearms or ammunition.
Investigation further revealed that allegedly, PO3 Noel Bunal had a drinking spree with Kim Sung Yun and another Korean detainee at around 10 p.m. in December 26, 2011.
Two women came while they were having drinks and offered sex for a fee with the Koreans, allegedly with Bunal’s consent.
Before dawn, Bunal was aghast that Kim Sung Yun was missing in his detention cell while the other detainee Kim Won Bin bailed out the next day and made to his flight back to Korea.
Kim Sung Yun and Kim Won Bin were arrested last December 14, 2011 after the Korean Embassy sought the help of PNP for their arrest.
“It was to the disappointment of the Embassy that on December 31, 2011, we learned of the incident that Kim Sung Yun has escaped from detention on December 26, 2011 and on the following day, December 27, 2011 Kim Won Bin was bailed out and later flew to Korea. With this, we would like to respectfully request for official statement/reports of the PNP and we are anticipating appropriate action and thorough investigation on this matter,” according to the statement of Korean Embassy.
