THREE Audi models were voted best in their class by nearly 100,000 readers of German publication Auto Zeitung in the competition for the Auto Trophy 2011. According to Audi Phils., the Audi Q3, launched only recently, and its A1 and A5 Sportback siblings, took top honors in their segments as five other Audi models placed second and four more clinched third-place finishes.
Audi said it also took best advertisement honors, and noted that the this year’s plums marked the 50th time that the brand won in the Auto Trophy’s 24-year history.
According to Audi Phils., the Q3, which was introduced in the German market only weeks ago, secured first place by garnering 27.2 percent of the votes in the SUV category. In the Midsize category, 29.7 percent of the votes went to the A5 Sportback, with the four-door coupe taking its category’s Auto Trophy for the third-straight time. For its part, the A1 got 32.1 percent of the votes, landing at the top of the Subcompact category—which the car also won in 2010.
Audi said that finishing second in their categories were its A6 (Full-size), A8 (Luxury), R8 (Supercar), R8 Spyder (Convertible) and RS 5 (Sports Car) models. The carmaker said its A7 Sportback (Full-size), Q5 (SUV), A3 (Compact) and A3 Cabriolet (Convertible) each took third place in their categories.
Audi Phils. said that a Q3 preview unit has arrived in Manila, and was displayed at the company’s showrooms in Greenhills, Alabang and Global City.
