IP E-Game Ventures Inc. said it has secured the right to operate the official website of the National Basketball Association (NBA) targeting the Philippine market.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, the online gaming unit of newly formed IP Ventures Inc. said it executed a content license and distribution agreement with NBA Properties Inc.
NBAP granted E-Games the right and license to operate the local website of the NBA.
The New York-based NBAP operates the various commercial activities of NBA around the world, outside of greater China.
Last year, E-Games also executed a license and distribution agreement with Blizzard Entertainment International to exclusively market, sell and distribute the latter’s boxed license products in the Philippines.
Blizzard, based in Netherlands, is the developer of World of Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo.
E-Games operates the largest internet cafe chain in the country with over 100 outlets.
As part of its strategy to become the leading digital consumer platform in the country, E-Games aims to have a network of 1,000 i-cafes in the next two to three years that will generate system-wide revenues of an estimated P5 billion per year.
EG offers a portfolio of online games including massively multiplayer online role-playing games or MMORPGs, and casual online games. Since it started operations in 2006, EG has commercially launched seven MMORPGs and four casual games in the Philippine market.
At end-September 2011, it has over 16.3 million registered gamers all over the Philippines.
