SENATE President Vicente “Tito” Sotto 3rd on Friday said the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) might no longer push for mandatory drug testing for fourth grade students in public and private elementary schools after public criticism of the plan.

“I think I was able to convince them to follow the DARE drug abuse resistance education program for preventive which focuses on Grade 6 and up,” Sotto said in a text message to reporters. He was guest speaker at the PDEA Personnel and Counterparts Awarding Ceremony yesterday.
