Erwan Heussaff was king of the kitchen as he held a cooking demo to highlight New Zealand’s lesser-known cuisine at a small gathering dubbed “Kiwi Cookout.” Organized in part by Tourism New Zealand in the agency’s continuing effort to open up their country and culture to more Filipinos, the live albeit intimate gathering took place at the popular restaurateur-cum-online personality’s brand new kitchen studio at Hectare One in Makati City—a brand new office building he co-owns with brother-in-law Nico Bolzico.

While some may be wondering why a half French-half Filipino foodie was chosen to promote the flavors of this island nation in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, there are those who are sure to remember that Heussaff and his beautiful wife, movie and TV personality Anne Curtis, are credited for drawing instant attention to New Zealand when they tied the knot in picturesque Queenstown in 2017. Thanks to them, Filipinos now know more about the country besides it being “Lord of the Rings’” Middle Earth.
