A Filipino engineering company that uses unmanned aerial vehicle or drone for its mapping, surveying and civil engineering operation on Thursday received its Certificate of Authorization from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP). According to CAAP director general William Hotchkiss, the issuance of certificate marked the first time in Philippine history where a company complied with CAAP’s rules and regulation of operating drones to ensure safety. The owners are required to submit a flight plan—the place, the date and time, as well as the height to ensure safety and security.
