MAKATI City’s college scholarship program recently produced five graduates, four of them with honors, from the University of the Philippines (UP) and the Philippine Normal University (PNU). Makati Mayor Abby Binay learned from city Education Department head Norma Tumambing that Maria Anna Dominique Guamos, Joshue A. Libby Mapagdalita and Charie Surdarlingam graduated cum laude from UP. Graduating from PNU were Catherine Taquiqui, Bachelor of Science in Education major in Chemistry, with honors and Evangeline Balawitan. Binay congratulated the new graduates for giving honor to the city. The city government has allocated P20 million for the Makati College Scholarship Program this school year. Makati college scholars in UP and PNU receive P4,000 monthly stipend each for five months per semester, aside from the tuition and other school fees provided by the city government. They also receive P5,000 book allowance every semester for scholars at UP and P4,000 for those in PNU.
