Some 186 local chief executives have been stripped of their police powers since President Rodrigo Duterte started his term, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) disclosed.

DILG officer in charge Eduardo Año said that eight governors and 178 mayors have lost supervision over the police because of their alleged involvement in the illegal drugs trade, failure to stop acts of terrorism, or have shown support to terrorist groups through various means.
